Barron’s weekend wrapup: Berkshire’s a value play; Microsoft’s potential; RBC tops stock picking

"Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" New York Premiere - Inside Arrivals

Here are some of the top stories from Barron’s this week:

In this week’s cover story “Berkshire Hathaway’s Bright Future,” Barron’s explores why Berkshire Hathaway’s valuation isn’t as high as deserves. Warren Buffett’s company just killed it on the Heinz deal, but Wall Street doesn’t seem to be picking up on that. Further, Buffett has set up the company to continue on its winning ways after he steps down — which is bound to happen sooner than later. Buffett is already 85.

Microsoft is on an upward track. The Nokia-writeoff hit the company hard in its latest earnings, but analysts are feeling positive about Windows 10 due out next week.

RBC Capital came out on top as Barron’s winner for stock picking in the first half of 2015. RBC was second to last for stock picking the second half of 2014. Morgan Stanley Wealth Management ranked number one for Barron’s 12 and 18 month assessments.
