Hedge funder John Paulson is making lemons into some very expensive lemonade.
Paulson and real estate king Fahad Ghaffar went on a “buying spree” in San Juan, reports the New York Post. Paulson is poised to lose millions in Puerto Rican debt, but that hasn’t turned him off from the island nation. The duo reportedly purchased luxury spots including St. Regis, La Concha Resort, and the Vanderbilt. The Post says Paulson sees the island nation as a buying opportunity.
Paulson and Ghaffar had Italian restaurant Serafina owners open a 25th location at La Concha. The restaurant opening was celebrated Tuesday with appearances from Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz Soto, basketball players Carmelo Anthony and Lou Amundson, and a slew of models.
