    Ex-Goldman exec joins Dallas Fed bank. Former Goldman Sachs executive Robert Steven Kaplan is the new president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Kaplan most recently worked as a management professor at Harvard Business School, but previously led the investment banking unit at Goldman Sachs until 2006. Kaplan takes office September 8, but does not have a vote in the upcoming FOMC meeting. New York Times

    JPMorgan hires retired Army general. Gen. Ray Odierno is joining JPMorgan as senior advisor to CEO Jamie Dimon about risk analysis and security. Odierno retired as 38th Chief of Staff of the Army less than a week before joining the bank. Odierno commanded troops in Iraq for a total of 55 months between 2003 and 2010. Foreign Policy
