It looks like the UFC is heading to the blockchain.
Dapper Labs, the blockchain company behind CryptoKitties, recently announced that it had signed a licensing deal with martial arts promoter UFC.
The deal has Dapper Labs and the UFC developing “a new digital experience” for fans by creating UFC-branded digital collectibles they can buy and trade through Dapper Labs’ recently-unveiled Flow platform.
UFC is one of the first global brands announced on the Flow platform. Flow was created by Dapper Labs to solve blockchain scalability issues for consumer applications like games and digital collectibles.
Speaking on the deal, UFC Senior Vice President for Global Consumer Products, Tracey Bleczinski, said that “UFC is thrilled to partner with Dapper Labs to offer a new form of digital collectibles to our global fanbase,” adding that the company “prides itself on being innovators in sports technology, and Flow is another way to provide our fans with the best entertainment experience.”
