    Asian shares may rise following a jump on Wall Street overnight as investors cheered a potential deal between Greece and its creditors to avert a default. Another good news comes from a private sector survey showing that Chinese firms are optimistic about a recovery in Asia’s biggest economy in the second quarter after a series of rate cuts from the central bank since November last year.     Asian shares seen up amid optimism for a Greek debt relief. The Nikkei may continue its rise after futures in Chicago and Osaka traded above its 20,428 close Monday. All eyes will be on China as the Markit China PMI for June is set to be released and may show a slight improvement though still on a contraction mode. CNBC

    Chinese economy posts broad-based recovery in the second-quarter. According to a survey of more than 2,000 firms, Asia’s biggest economy saw a recovery in the property sector and in retail, while manufacturing, services, agriculture and mining likewise posted quarterly gains. Reuters

    Softbank, two others form venture to invest $20 billion in India’s renewable energy. The Japanese firm alongside Foxconn Technology and Bharti Enterprises will invest in a venture called SBG Cleantech Ltd, and aims to produce 20 gigawatts of electricity. The Wall Street Journal (paywall)

    Bernie Madoff trustee appeal denied. The U.S. Supreme Court upheld a decision denying victims of Madoff’s Ponzi scheme the ability to “clawback” money from Madoff investors that made money. The Guardian

    Ben Bernanke defends Alexander Hamilton. Knock central bank-hater Andrew Jackson of the twenty dollar bill and keep Hamilton on the 10, Bernanke says. Hamilton deserves a notable spot on the currency he helped create as the first Treasury Secretary. Jackson was a poor president at best, and should definitely be bumped for a suitable female candidate, he says. Brookings

    Stars and Bars under pressure. Southern states are facing growing backlash about the continued use of the Confederate flag, particularly on government property. Critics say it’s a continued sign of racism; supporters say it shows Southern pride. Many are proposing the flag is retired to museum use only. CNN

    Terrorism deaths spike. Last year 32,727 people were killed in terrorism attacks. Mass attacks grew significantly, with 20 attacks killing more than 100 people in 2014, compared with just two in 2013. ISIS and Boko Haram are responsible for the bulk of the attacks. Newsweek

    Save Fido, eat chicken. People around the world are freaking out about Yulin, China’s annual dog meat festival. Thousands of dogs are expected to be fried up and served, much to the chagrin of pet owners and lovers. Yang Xiaoyun from Northern China has raised funds to buy the dogs and spare from ending up on the dining table. Reuters
