We hope you’re reading this from the beach. Things ended quietly in the U.S. Thursday for the long weekend ahead. U.S. markets will reopen Monday with possibly more insight to the Greek debt crisis available. The Greeks hit the polls Sunday to help decide their fate.
The Greek diaspora wants in on the referendum. Greeks around the world are taking to the Internet, asking friends and family to vote Sunday. Other than doling out advice, some Greeks are buying expensive, last minute flights so they can impact the vote more directly. Reuters
France denies Julian Assange asylum. Wikileaks founder Assange has been living at the Ecuadorean embassy in London since 2012. Assange is wanted for questioning over sexual assault allegations in Sweden. BBC
Turmoil continues in the South. A number of traditionally black churches across the Southern U.S. suffered fires, all following the racially motivated shooting in a South Carolina church June 17. Authorities say they aren’t connected, and arson is only at play in a couple situations. Talking Points Memo
