HSBC names Steven Cranwell head of Singapore’s commercial banking
HSBC has appointed Steven Cranwell as head of its commercial banking for Singapore, the British lender said in a statement.
In his new role, Cranwell will be responsible for the bank’s large corporates, middle market and small and medium-enterprises banking segments. He will also handle global trade and receivables finance and payments and cash management businesses in the city-state.
A veteran banker with 25 years of experience that includes a 16-year stint in Asia, Cranwell brings a strong regional and sectoral expertise to his new job.
HSBC’s Singapore CEO Guy Harvey-Samuel has this to say about Cranwell’s appointment:

Cranwell will jointly report to Harvey-Samuel and Noel Quinn, head of commercial banking for Asia Pacific. He succeeds Kelvin Tan, who has been named CEO for HSBC Thailand.
Citi taps Hamish Whitehead as new Capital Markets MD
Hamish Whitehead will be joining Citi in October as managing director of capital market origination in Australia, leaving his post at Deutsche Bank where he was also a managing director, ECM, Citi said in an internal memo sent to NexChange.
In his new role at Citi, Whitehead will repot to John McLean, the U.S. bank’s head of ECM.
“(Whitehead) brings a wealth and breadth of ECM experience to the role having been involved in structuring, executing and syndicating transactions totalling in excess of $A33 billion. Hamish has advised on high profile Initial Public Offerings in Australia and New Zealand most recently for Medibank, Meridian Energy, Spotless Group, and Estia Health. He also advised APA Group, Spark Infrastructure, Dexus, Fonterra Group, KKR on Seven West Media, CHAMP, Qantas and many other industrial companies on financing solutions,” according to the memo
