Templeton demotes Mobius. Mark Mobius, known around the world as an emerging markets guru, will be stepping down as lead manager of the $2.9 billion Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust. Istanbul-based Carlos Hardenberg will be filling in his role beginning October. Mobius will remain at Templeton as chairman of its Emerging Markets Group and will provide support to Hardenberg as a portfolio manager. Regarding the change, Mobius said that Templeton “makes changes based on what we believe is in the best interests of our clients.” Bloomberg
Permira names new chairman and head of Japan. Ryotaro Fujii was recently named Managing Director and head of Japan by UK-based investment firm Permira . Prior to joining Permira, Fujii was a key member of KKR’s Japan deals team, and had also worked at Goldman Sachs as well as Japan’s Finance Ministry. Yoichiro Furuse meanwhile was appointed by the firm as its chairman of Japan. The seven-year Permira veteran previously held roles at Sumitomo Bank, Sanyo Electric, and various other companies. BNP Paribas Investment Partners APAC CEO departs. Hong Kong-based Vincent Camerlynck, a 10-year BNP Paribas Investment Partners veteran and current Asia-Pacific CEO, is slated to leave the firm at the end of the month “to pursue other opportunities.” He will be replaced by London-based Ligia Torres, the firm’s Head of Asia-Pacific and Emerging Markets, “until further notice.” Pensions & Investments
