NexAmerica PM: Fed finalizes bank reserve numbers; Lockheed makes $9B purchase; FT may be for sale

    The Nasdaq closed 0.2% up on Monday, making it the third straight day of a record close. The S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial average each gained 0.1%. …Halliburton garnered a 1.8% gain Monday after its earnings call reported better than expected revenue. …Morgan Stanley also reported better earnings than expected, but still suffered from low earnings and a 0.4% drop. …Gold is hitting rock bottom, falling 2.2% Monday and hitting a five year low. …Crude oil continues to hover around $50, dropping 1.5% Monday to $50.15 a barrel.

    Fed finalizes banks’ capital reserve numbers. The Federal Reserve has decided that the seven biggest banks, excluding J.P. Morgan, will need an additional capital buffer between 1% and 3.5%. J.P. Morgan may face a “capital surcharge” of 4.5% of its risk-weighted assets if it doesn’t meet the new requirements. The surcharge goes into effect in 2019. Wall Street Journal. 

    Lockheed makes $9 billion purchase. Lockheed Martin will buy Sikorsky Aircraft for $9 million. The Black Hawk maker Sikorsky is currently owned by United Technologies Corp. This will be Lockheed’s biggest acquisition since its 1996 purchase of Loral Corp’s defense electronics of $9.1 billion. Reuters

    KKR taking data company public. U.S. private equity firm KKR is taking First Data public. KKR bought the payment proccessor in 2007. The company says it plans to raise $100 million for an IPO, but that number is likely just a placeholder. KKR will remain a majority shareholder. Financial Times

    Pink paper for sale? Pearson has received interest from buyers for the Financial Times. There is no formal sale process underway yet, but media companies and investors are said to be eyeing the paper, which could be worth as much as $1.6 billion. Bloomberg

    Cheaters never win. Ashley Madison, the online dating platform that helps married people cheat, has been hacked. Hackers posted some data after the breach, and have threatened to release all the personal information about Ashley Madison users if the website doesn’t shut down. The site, which boasts the slogan “Life is short. Have an affair,” claims to have 37 million members. CNN Money
