Blackstone CFO jumping ship to Airbnb. Airbnb is close to bringing Blackstone CFO Laurence Tosi on as CFO for the hotel-alternative company. Airbnb has been without a CFO since Andrew Swain left last year. Tosi has worked as CFO at Blackstone since 2008. Silicon Valley companies, like Airbnb, are known to bring over big executives before moving to an IPO. Tosi previously turned down the role of CFO at Apple in 2010. Bloomberg
Bank of America CFO on his way out. Bruce Thompson, CFO of Bank of America, is leaving the firm. David Darnell, vice chairman of the wealth management business, also announced his retirement. Thompson’s departure is more of a surprise for Bank of America, as many saw him as the successor to CEO Brian Moynihan. Thompson’s exit comes after he helped lead the firm through the Federal Reserve stress test, during which Bank of America did not fair well. Wall Street Journal
JPMorgan launching South Africa brokerage. Lebogang Moropa rejoined JPMorgan in Johannesburg to give the firm a “dedicated presence” for prime brokerage in South Africa. Moropa comes to the firm from HSBC were he worked as a derivatives trader in South Africa. Bloomberg
