Are you guys familiar with Peter Muller? Bout yea high, turned down a job offer from Renaissance Technologies, writes the New York Times crossword puzzle every now and then? Well, if you’ve read Scott Patterson’s “The Quants” you’ll know Muller was the high-flying, poker-playing algorithmic genius behind Morgan Stanley’s super-secret stat-arb unit, PDT. PDT was reportedly so secretive that MS’ own higher ups weren’t allowed inside the unit’s floor.
Anyway, here’s another of Muller’s secrets; aside from being able to write a mean algo, the man can apparently work a Steinway like Franz Liszt — and he can sing too. Check it out:
