100 Women in Hedge Funds tour global stock exchanges

    100 Women in Hedge Funds, a group that represents more than 13,000 women who work in the hedge fund sector, is making its round across global trading floors.

    Most recently, 100WHF rang the closing bell on Wall Street, and in July, opened trading hours at the London Stock Exchange. In addition to London and New York, 100WHF will visit the Swiss Stock Exchange, Hong Kong Exchange, Chicago Board Options Exchange, and Toronto Stock Exchange in 2015 as part of their Celebrating Education – Investing in the Next Generation initiative.

    Sonia Gardner, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Avenue Capital Group, rang the bell Tuesday morning, surrounded by a dozen other members. The session coincided with the organization’s 500th training session.

    In London, Miriam González-Durántez, a Partner at Dechert LLP, was given the honor.

    Founded in 2001, 100WHF is a group of industry leaders that is not only a professional community, but philanthropic. The group’s main goal is to positively shape both industry and community via educational programming, professional leverage initiatives, and philanthropy.

    With over 20 locations globally, 100WHF has held over 500 industry educational events and 70 peer advisory meetings. As a member of the Charities Forum, the organization has raised over $36 million for charities focused on women’s and family health.

    100WHF was formed in 2001. Its three pillars are Industry Education, Philanthropy and Professional Leverage. The organization has hosted more than 400 education events globally. Its philanthropic mission focuses on three areas: mentoring, women’s and family health, and education. The organization has raised over $36 million gross for various charities.
