Carl Icahn may be nearing his eighties, but he’s still the rabid, ruthless raider that took over TWA in 1985 and tried to grab U.S. Steel the year after. In fact, after seeing him rake billions with Apple and Netflix, one can make the argument that he’s even better now.
Anyway, Bloomberg has recently released a list of quotes that encapsulates the wit, the genius, and the nastiness that makes Carl Icahn, Carl Icahn. Here are a few of our favorites:
On Michael Dell: “Of all his scare tactics Dell has finally come up with the best one-he’ll stay as CEO if we don’t accept his offer”
On Marc Andreessen: “Andreessen, he’s screwed more people than Casanova, for Christ’s sakes.. …(y)et, he goes and he takes this attitude that he’s on the high moral ground and he just is as annoying as hell…”
On Bill Ackman: “I’m telling you he’s like a crybaby in the schoolyard. I went to a tough school in Queens, you know, and they used to beat up the little Jewish boys. He was like one of the little Jewish boys crying …”
On Bill Ackman – again: “I appreciate you, Bill, calling me a ‘great investor’, but unfortunately I cannot say the same for you.”
